Okay, so now I’m going to show you how to set up this featured video section right here in the middle of the page. I highly recommend that you do put some kind of a video in here whether the video that you create based on your blog theme information or you know, if you pull it off the youtube video, but I highly recommend that you put a video here. And what you’ll need to do is load up that video that you create or you know, if you pull it off the youtube but that’s where you’ll be storing the video that goes here.

So this is how this process works. You’ll going to go to your blog dashboard and you’ll going to create a post first. So, I already want to add log in here. So let’s click on post and add new and I created this form already here so I’m going to create a basic title and we’ll paste that title in here and I already copied a video that we can paste in here. And this will create the post. We’ll create a space down here and we’ll go get some dummy texts to post in here temporarily, and we’ll put a couple of paragraphs in here just to make sure the texts shows up.

Alright so what we have basically now is a video on the top, actually what I’m going to do is I’m going to take this video and I’m going to paste it down below a little bit. Now, what we need to do is we’re going to need to do some different functions here to get that video to show up in this middle process. This is basically a post, that’s what it is. Now what we need to do is take this video link here and you’re going down below and since we don’t have this option showing to put that video post in here.

To get that to show up on your new theme, you’re going to come up here and click on screen options, the down arrow. And you’ll see this excerpt here and that’s not checked. So when we check that, that actually sets up a box where we can post this video link in. Now I’m going to post paste this video link in there and I’m also going to paste just a little bit of dummy texts in there. And that’s what you’ll do. You would paste a little bit of your post text in there. The beginning probably the first paragraph or so. But not too much because you don’t want to stretch in all the way down the center of your page. You just want a little bit of text in there.

So now that I have the video in here. And I also have a little bit of text in there. We now have to set up the actual video so that you can tell the sizes and what I’m going to do is I’m going to show you the exact dimension on what that video needs to be because it has to be specific dimension to fit in there. So when you notice right here, you’ll see that YouTube gives you an iframed URL link and within there you get this width of the video and the height of the video. Now you can adjust that setting to however small you want it, but to fit perfectly in the space that we’ve created this width needs to be actually 270 wide and the height needs to be 230 pixels. So when you get those changed, what we’ll going to do is also give this a new category. So what I’m going to do is I’m going to call this category, I’m going to click on this Add New link here and I’m going to type in Featured video and I’m going to click Add new category and that pop up here and I’ll automatically put a check link in it. Now that is the only post that I want that have featured video in. but if I ever do another post where I’m doing another video and I have a different category, I’m going to change the category here because I only want that category to be whatever that featured video is showing. Oh I’ll explain a little bit more in a little bit here.

So now I have that set up and ready to go, I’m going to publish it. Click publish and that will publish this post. And whatever I’ll explain here all that saving is, I created the actual post so that if they click on the post link, they can read it and they can watch the full size video in the post. Or the excerpt down here, pasting the video in this and also a little bit of text here actually shows this up on the main page. So this is still saving for the reason I don’t know what’s happening.

So I’m going to click refresh, and now we should have our, oh wait we have one more setting to do. Sorry. One more thing that I actually forgot to do but now that this is saved, we’re going down here to the Theme Options under the Appearance tab and when that loads up, on the initial setting that pops up here is going to be a, the General settings tab, that’s the top tab. This will automatically open under the Theme Options, and in this very tab on this says “Select category to show this category post in featured video section on the home page. So what you will do is click open this dropdown and you’ll notice now that that featured video category in that dropdown since we’ve created it.

So you’ll click on that, scroll down to the bottom of this tab, click Save Changes, and that will allow the video to show up right here in this section. And a little bit of text and the title, the date, featured video title, and if you click here on the Read more, that actually takes us to the real post with all of the text and the full size video. And right now, for whatever reason, my internet connection is kind of slow and I imagine that everybody is home from work and has logged in. So as you can see now, we have the complete post with the featured title here and the text and the video here. But now as you’ll see our video is a little bit larger in the space but we’ve designed the theme so that they can actually blow up the page. So what we need to do is we actually need to go back in here, and adjust the video size so that it fits all the way down in here without actually extending. What I’m going to do is I’m going back in here to the actual post again. Got to click on Post, and then when that post comes up I’m going to click Edit and then what I’ll do is, on the video part, I’m going to actually shorten this down to 600 and 350 and we’ll save and lets see if that shrinks the video on that.

And I’ll refresh the page, and it looks like we actually need to shrink it down a little bit more. But anyway, you got the idea. I will get into how and what size to do these videos in here. In a little bit, in another video. This gives you the basic idea of actually how to set up this featured video section right here in the middle column of your blog. And then in another video, we’ll going to show you how to set up all these bars and also how to set up the video, the welcome video here if you want that as well. Alright, that’s it for that.
